Troopers
Imperial Stormtroopers
"Elite shock troopers frantically loyal to the empire and impossible to sway from the imperial cause, storm troopers wear imposing white armor offering a wide range of survival equipment and temperature controls that allow the soldiers to survive in almost any environment. Storm Troopers wield standard-issue E-11 Blaster rifles and attack in hoards to overwhelm their enemies." --Prima Official Game Guide "Star Wars the Force Unleashed" written by Fernando Bueno
Imperial Incinerator Troopers
"Another of the empire's many Stormtrooper variants, Incinerator Troopers are deployed primarily to raze subjugated planets and incite fear in the local populace. The Incinerator Trooper's primary weapon is a destructive plasma cannon the can quickly turn healthy crops, lush forests, and even vibrant swamps into charred wastelands. Incinerators are typically organized into small squads bolstered by other units, including Scout Troopers and EVO Troopers." --Prima Official Game Guide "Star Wars the Force Unleashed" written by Fernando Bueno
Evo Troopers
The
EVO troopers (short for "Environmental") were one of the Empire's most specialized
stormtroopers.
Equipped with heavy enhanced armor with breathing tubes and went through a special training, they were able to survive in the most hazardous conditions such as extreme heat, acid rivers, and
lightning. They were equipped with
FA-3 flechette launchers and some utilized
T-21 light repeating blasters.
EVO troopers could be encountered wherever extreme environmental battlefield conditions existed and several were posted on the science ship ISS
Empirical,
Kashyyyk,
Felucia,
Raxus Prime, and even the unfinished
Death Star. They were specially trained and equipped with equipment made for harsh conditions. The brunt of them were be picked from groups of stormtroopers who expressed hate to non-humans, which made them more aggressive towards the aliens they encountered on harsh worlds. They were eventually succeeded by
Hazard troopers.
Jet Troopers
"Clone jet troopers, or
aerial clone troopers, were
clone troopers equipped with and trained in the use of
jetpacks.
The
Republic rocket-jumpers of the
Old Sith Wars and
Darca Nyl's airborne
mercenaries from before the
Invasion of Naboo may have been their predecessors, and the
Jumptroopers of the
Galactic Empire were their successors.
They utilized their limited flight jetpacks to rapidly cover great distances and gain aerial advantage over their enemies. The agility of the flying jet trooper made him difficult to hit and could ambush their enemies from behind. Jet troopers were made famous by
Commander Cody, who would use jetpacks frequently in missions with his battalion, and the
7th Sky Corps.
Jet troopers were issued
DC-15A blaster rifles or
EMP launchers and later
DC-15x sniper rifles as their primary weapons. They were also equipped with the
DC-17 hand blasters, which was very powerful and accurate, especially for its size. It also had a better cooling capacity so it could continue firing for a long period of time without overheating. They also carried
EMP grenades,
thermal detonators or Detonator charges.
Jetpacks were also used by some
ARC trooper units, and the jet troopers themselves were bred at a similar rate to the ARCs, but retained the uniformity of the standard clones. The extra training was to learn how to control and manipulate the jetpack. They were not, however, ARC units, and were deployed into other combat units, one being the
501st.
Jet troopers wore either green, orange or blue armor. They sometimes wore
kamas to protect their legs from fire while they were in air. The jet troopers had specialized armor so that they didn't get injured from falling from extremely high places. Their jetpacks featured built in
Warheads, which cause devastating blasts against their enemies.
Jetpacks should not be confused with
jump packs, which would later be used by the Imperial
dark troopers. Jump packs simply rocket the wearer up at an angle for around 2 seconds, whereas a jetpack could be controlled and switched on and off at any point during the flight.
Two different types of jet trooper armors were in use during the
Clone Wars. The first wore standard
Phase I clone trooper armor with the addition of a
JT-12 jetpack, while the second, and presumably later model, wore sleek, sealed armor for greater aerodynamics and an improved jetpack to operate in higher altitudes. However, the armor had less protection against enemy attacks. The
Kaminoan resistance to the
Galactic Empire utilized jet troopers as their primary infantry, but carried
DC-15x sniper rifles as one of their primary weapons.
Clone Commander Cody wore a jetpack not dissimilar to those worn by the
Phase II jet troopers, and for this reason he was sometimes known as the 'Jetpack Commander'. Commander Cody commanded them during the clone wars, Cody used the jetpack while on an unidentified planet attempting to attack a shielded city. Cody had been on this planet for three months attacking the shield until Anakin found a hidden tunnel under the shielded city. Anakin and Obi-Wan knocked out the
shield generator thus allowing Cody, a squad of jet troopers, and many
AT-RTs to storm the city and win the battle.
A jet trooper fights beside Commander Gree, Generals
Unduli and
Secura and
Commander Bly. In the
Battle of Geonosis, a jet trooper was assigned to acquire a Geonosian
holocron that fell from one of the
Geonosians. The holocron was successfully delivered to
Checkpoint Alpha and sent to be analyzed for its secrets.
Jet troopers also took part in the battle of Coruscant when
Jedi Master Saesee Tiin landed in a Republic Star Destroyer that had been heavily damaged, they jumped out of the lower rear hangar bay with some jet troopers on to the nearest
Trade Federation cruiser. Taking control, Tinn had the ship fire its cannons on the nearest
Providence-class carrier.
Standard clone troopers were known to have used jetpacks during certain missions. During the
Battle of Christophsis, jetpack-wearing clones were led into the battle by
Captain Rex, aiding
General Anakin Skywalker. During the battle, they fought against
Octuptarra combat tri-droids. A small unit of clones, including Rex and
Denal, utilized jetpacks during the
mission to Skytop Station."

Clone Trooper
"Clone troopers were an army of identical, genetically-modified
clones, created to serve in the
Grand Army of the Republic during the conflict that came to be known as the
Clone Wars.
[1] Cloned and raised in the cities of
Kamino, the
clone troopers, trained and drilled since birth, and came to be regarded as one of the most efficient military forces ever to have existed in
galactic history. This was not only due to their training, but also to their unwavering loyalty to the
Galactic Republic and its leader,
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
The origins of the clone troopers could be traced back to the days before the
debacle on Naboo, when the army was commissioned by the
Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas in the name of the Republic. With the untimely death of
Sifo-Dyas, however, the project fell under the supervision of a mysterious man known only as
Tyranus.
After a series of stringent tests, Tyranus selected the famed
Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett to serve as the army's genetic template.
[2] When the Kaminoans suggested creating the army using a
Force-sensitive donor, Tyranus quickly squelched the idea. Before initiating the gestation process, the Kaminoans tampered with Fett's DNA, selecting behavioral genes having to do with such qualities as loyalty, aggression, independence, and discipline. This resulted in soldiers that were more obedient, more resilient, and more reliable than unaltered ones would have been. Only a small batch of clones, which came to be the
Advanced Recon Commandos, did not undergo these gene modifications.
The Kaminoan's first foray into exploring Fett's DNA resulted in the creation of twelve prototype clones, only six of which managed to survive the gestation process. The clones, which came to be the infamous
Null-class ARC troopers, were the results of an
enhanced Fett genome. The experiment, however, was perceived as a failure by the Kaminoans due to the low birth-rate and their refusal to follow orders and no further such clones were created. If not for the intervention of Mandalorian
Kal Skirata, the Kaminoans would have terminated them as defective units in accordance to
Factor H; instead, they became elite units.
As the clones matured, Fett took a hiatus from his bounty-hunting career in order to oversee the training of his soldiers. Fett personalized the clone's training regimen, and even had a hand in designing their armor.
In order to make them available to the Republic as quickly as possible, all of the clones underwent genetic modification designed to hasten the growth process. As a result, each clone aged at twice the rate of a normal
Human. By the age of ten, a clone would be physically fit and ready for combat. Clones that displayed an unusual or abnormal amount of individuality or independence, about two percent of the total production, were often reconditioned or reassigned. Clones that did not meet the Kaminoans' exacting standards more often than not found themselves mysteriously disappearing in the late hours of the night. This was the case with a company of clones whose vision was not quite 20/20.
All clone troopers received basic training in core military skills, such as weapons handling, marksmanship, and other essentials. The
Advanced Recon Commandos received highly specialized training from Jango Fett himself, while their counterparts, the
clone commandos, received training from a group of former
Mandalorian mercenaries, which Fett dubbed the
Cuy'val Dar. Clones selected to serve as officers were drilled in how to effectively lead their men in the heat of combat. During combat training scenarios, a 2% fatality rate was the maximum allowed by the Kaminoans.
Every aspect of clone trooper behavior was governed by the
Command Code.
During their development, Jango Fett made a point of instilling the Mandalorian ethos into each and every one of the clones, presumably as a way to carry on the Mandalorian legacy. This was particularly true of the army's upper echelon and special forces. This quickly spread to include
Mando'a, the language of the Mandalorians, the use of which became widespread among the clones. The Mandalorian influence was particularly strong among the
Republic Commandos, as nearly all of those who had trained them were once Mandalorian warriors.
Although the Mandalorian culture had a strong impact on the clone commandos, the more common-issued clones, who composed the majority of clones in the Grand Army, were nevertheless devoted to the
Galactic Republic without question, thus placing their loyalty to the Republic over all other emotions or interests. When the
Mandalorian Protectors, led by none other than the renegade clone
Alpha-Ø2, emerged on the side of the
Confederacy of Independent Systems, many clones began to reject their Mandalorian heritage due to the fact that the Mandalorians had become enemies of the Republic. It was a major blow to the clone army's "brothers all" affection for each other, as seen when the
2nd Airborne Company made no attempt to hide their dislike for
Omega Squad and any other clone that placed their interests in the Mandalorian culture above their loyalty to the Republic.
After clones from different templates and regular Human recruits (both volunteer and conscript) were added to the
stormtrooper ranks, it is likely that the influence of the Mandalorian culture on the military was gradually phased out as the Fett clones became a minority in the
Stormtrooper Corps.
With the capture of
Obi-Wan Kenobi,
Anakin Skywalker, and Senator
Padmé Amidala by
Count Dooku and his
Separatists, the stage was set for the first conflict of the coming Clone Wars. The Grand Army of the Republic made its debut on the barren plains of
Geonosis. Within the first hour, the clones, under the command of
Jedi Generals such as
Mace Windu and
Kit Fisto, had pushed the droid army back and had prevented the construction of millions more with the capture of the planet's
droid foundries. Soon, the 200,000-strong army had pushed the droids into a full retreat.
[1] The Grand Army's success on Geonosis marked the beginning of the Clone Wars, a conflict into which the Republic's clone troops were flung headfirst. As more and more worlds declared their allegiance to Dooku's Confederacy, the troopers of the Grand Army found themselves being shipped off to the farthest and most obscure corners of the Galaxy. As their experience increased, so did their prowess. However, their victories more often than not came at a steep price. At the time of the
Second Battle of Cato Neimoidia, towards the end of the war, a large percentage of the Grand Army's clones were either dead or too badly injured to ever fight again.
[3] The clones would prove instrumental to Republic victories, with specialized variants such as the ARCs often proving vital to the battle. It soon became clear that civilian conscripts and Jedi alone were helpless without the support the clones provided."

ARC Troopers
ARC trooper armor was a specialized variant of
Phase I clone trooper armor worn by
Advanced Recon Commandos. The armor was lighter and offered more protection than standard
clone trooper armor and could be fitted with specialized attachments, such as a
jetpack, rocket dart launchers, miniature
flamethrowers, and a rangefinder. The ARC Trooper,
Fordo, also had a taser that could be shot from his gauntlet which he used against
Durge at the
Battle of Muunilinst.
ARC trooper armor was usually worn with a blast dampening
kama and rank signifying
pauldron. An exception was ARC trooper Alpha-98 "Nate" later "Jangotat".
During the early stages of the clone army's development,
Jango Fett and his
Mandalorian military
advisors advocated the creation of clones capable of handling covert missions too delicate for the standard units. To achieve the desired results, the
Kaminoans did not apply the standard behavior correction and enhanced the
prime clone's genetic sample to increase physical prowess.
The first attempt at genetic alterations failed, resulting in the
Null-class ARC troopers. Having learned their lesson, the Kaminoans succeeded in their second attempt, generating the first 100 ARC troopers, designated the
Alpha-class.
ARC troopers leading the defense of Kamino. After completing standard
flash training and accelerated growth, these clones were placed under the direct tutelage of
Jango Fett. Under Fett's strict discipline they learned to use their fierce independence, innate creativity, and physical superiority in combination with their training in advanced weapons and vehicles to become virtual one-man armies. After completing their training, the ARC troopers were locked in stasis on Kamino until they were required.
Two months after the
Battle of Geonosis, a
Confederacy assault on
Kamino prompted their early activation. As
droid detachments closed in on
Tipoca City,
Prime Minister Lama Su activated the Advanced Recon Commandos and authorized their deployment to hot-spots across Kamino in a last-ditch effort to save the planet's precious cloning facilities. The ARCs worked with a force of
Jedi to repel the droid forces.
Following the
First Battle of Kamino, the ARCs were integrated into the Grand Army of the Republic. As the ARCs took their place in the larger world, they developed distinct personalities due to their unaltered nature; some gave themselves names, others formed relationships outside the GAR. Once integrated, Advanced Recon Commandos worked as solo operatives or in small squads led by ARC captains, either performing self-contained missions or supplementing larger Grand Army of the Republic operations. It is possible that they trained ordinary clone troopers ARC techniques and commanded them in squads; due to the limited number of ARCs, it is unlikely that the teams would be comprised only of them. One notable exception was the aftermath of the
Battle of Hypori, where a twenty-man ARC trooper team under the leadership of Captain
Fordo engaged
General Grievous in combat.
A troop of ARC troopers en route to a mission. As the Clone Wars progressed, some battles were won by the Republic largely thanks to the ARC troopers, most notably the Battle of Muunilinst, where the
Muunilinst 10 disabled Separatist defenses that were causing damage to Republic forces. Soon, as their reputation spread among the GAR and throughout the Galaxy, the Advanced Recon Commandos proved time and time again as to why they were they regarded as the best of the best in the Grand Army. As perfect soldiers, the ARCs and Jango were almost exactly alike; in fact, the leader of the
Muunilinst 10,
Fordo, had adapted the same blaster-spinning routine as Jango Fett.
However, because of their training as independent soldiers, they were more prone to questioning orders. In one unforgettable incident on Ord Cestus, ARC trooper Alpha 98 (known as Nate and later as Jangotat) disobeyed an order from his Jedi commander and sacrificed his life to destroy a local group of despots.
The Advanced Recon Commando tradition did not end with the death of Jango Fett in
22 BBY. Following his escape from
Rattatak in early
20 BBY,
Alpha, one of the earliest ARCs, returned to Kamino to train the second generation
clone trooper commanders as Fett had trained him. These commanders, like
Bacara and
Cody, adopted the individualized practices of the ARCs and brought a new sense of creativity to the Grand Army of the Republic.
After the Clone Wars, all surviving ARCs were offered either retirement or the option to train their successors, the
stormtroopers, passing on their combat experience. These new ARC troopers were also rumored to have undergone intensive deep core programming. Some even defected to the
Alliance to Restore the Republic while others went rogue, following in Jango Fett's footsteps by becoming
bounty hunters and
assassins.
[1][2] Some ARC troopers, possibly a new batch, took part in the
Kamino uprising by leading the secretly grown
clone anti-Imperial troopers against the Imperial stormtroopers of the
501st Legion in a fight to liberate Kamino from the Empire. The anti-Imperial clones failed, however.
